The Washington Coast

In an effort to relax a little bit,  Shannon made the executive decision that “we” would spend a couple of days on the Washington Coast.   We rented a house on the coast, in Westport Washington for a couple of nights.  It was a good way to get away without going far,  and the weather was sunny and warm-ish on Friday.  Shannon, however,  was not part of the we and spent the most of Friday in nearby Portland, Oregon at the High School Volleyball tournament.  (see map for distances!)

Grandma, the boys, and myself spent a day digging in sand on the beach,  searching for shells, running from the waves, looking for light houses and bathrooms,  and of course looking for wifi.  My real camera was inadvertently left at home,  so taking pictures of objects in motion (Zach and Tyler)  don’t always come out well. 

So,  you should have seen how many great sand castles we built.  The beach was beautiful; with great surf.  At one place we were able to drive down the beach for a few miles,  what Zach called an adventure in our car.  

Here Zach is returning from a successful recovery mission.  While walking along a costal trail,  Tyler went renegade and headed off into the bush toward the ocean.  Tyler really wanted to go into the water.  

During high tide,  it was fun to stand where the water would chase us backwards.  Tyler thought this game was great fun (though I was carrying him).  Zach was the fastest,  and stayed dry,  but he didn’t like the game.  Grandma wasn’t quite quick enough. 

Poor weather and both children feeling under the weather cut the trip short. 

Sunday Church

This Sunday Zach performed in the Primary Program and later gave a talk during primary.   In both instances Zach performed admirably.  He spoke loudly and clearly and even smiled while doing it.   I will promise not to forget my camera in the future! 

Tyler’s latest game is climbing on things.  In Westport, he wanted to climb the bunkbeds, the coffee table, end tables, stairs etc…  Here, at home,  he has climbed up on the table to get a drink.   He really enjoys doing this.
